Born in 1964, she ran and owned a successful new & used "Indie - Punk - Alternative" record shop that resided in midtown KCMO. In 1988, Anne Winter (a graduate of the University of Nebraska - Lincoln) moved to Kansas City and along with a partner, opened "Dirt Cheap - Recycled Sounds". By 1992, Anne had married Kurt von Schlemmer, who bought out her previous partner, and changed the business name to just "Recycled Sounds" incorporating a Dinosaur motif. During the early 1990's until its closing in 2006 is was a well known destination for obtaining local area music, Indie, underground etc. Her passing away in 2006 left a gap in the local area music community. In the early 1990's she also helped program an alternative show on KKFI 90.1fm as a host named "Little Orphan Annie."
