Composer of Electronic and Jazz
Anton Nikkilä (b. 1965) is an experimental musician and composer who lives and works in Helsinki, Finland. Nikkilä started making music in the early 80's, he ran the cassette label Valtavat Records in 1980-82 and attended John Cage’s summer courses in Finland in 1983. Later on, he was actively involved in Russian underground rock scene, as a translator, journalist, concert organizer, etc. In the early 90's he studied Russian literature and musicology. In 2003-2005 Nikkilä was a director of Avanto Helsinki Media Art Festival. In 2000 Anton Nikkilä started the N&B Research Digest label together with Alexei Borisov, releasing new and archival electronic music from Russia and Finland. As a duo, Borisov and Nikkilä produced two studio albums and two live albums.
