(1899–1990) A shepherd and traditional fiddler, piper and composer from central Northumberland. An early member of the Northumbrian Pipers' Society. From 1938 he played as one of The Border Minstrels, along with Billy Pigg, John Armstrong (of Carrick), and Annie Snaith. Composer of: The Lady's Well, The Pipemaker's Hornpipe, Joe Hutton's March, Ella Dagg of Swindon's Reel, Whisky Glen Jig, Keenshaw Burn Jig, The Cowslip Hornpipe, Nup Blossom Hornpipe, The Simonside Hornpipe, Swindon, Archie Dagg's March, Rodsley Court Reel, Hottery Bank Polka, Elsey's Waltz, The Tomtit Reel, The Stickdresser's Hornpipe, The Foxglove Hornpipe, A.
