A.k.a. Armando Romeu González

Conductor, arranger, composer, saxophonist, flutist. From a family of musicians received his first music lesson from his father Armando Romeu Marrero. Also nephew of Antonio María Romeu. Very young a good flutist, he began to play in bandas at the age of 9, and also began as a child to play with his father. In 1926 he began playing on Havana nightclubs, in 1941 his band took up residency at Tropicana Club in Havana during 25 years. In 1967 Romeu was appointed conductor of the Orquesta Cubana De Música Moderna. (17 July 1911, Regla - 11 March 2002, La Havana, Cuba.)
