Band,
R&B/Soul and Rock
Arnie & his Soul Brothers originated on the Indiana University Campus in Bloomington, Indiana in the fall of 1959 and pleased audiences on Midwestern campuses from 1959 through 1964. Their first 45 record, “The Prune,” made several hit radio charts including number 13 in Indianapolis WISH Radio’s Chart in 1962. Later in 1962 the band recorded an album called, “Doin’ the Prune” with eleven songs. From toe tapping, rock n’ sockem’ dance music, to dreamy jazz ballads, the versatility of the band helped them create a huge demand for appearances. Members of the group included: Marty Zuroff, Warren Grimwood, Stan Hillis, Bob Sanders, Paula Hampton, Fred Lieber, and Arnie Goldberg, the founder and leader. Other singles besides “The Prune,” released by the group in the early 1960’s included “Tenderloin” and “Untwist.”
