Arthur Lange

A.k.a. Artrude W. Lange

b.: April 16, 1889 d.: December 7, 1956 United States bandleader and Tin Pan Alley composer of popular music. Arthur Lange And His Orchestra recorded prolifically for the Cameo Record Corporation and Pathé Frères Phonograph Co. from 1922-1928, often under pseudonyms (eg. Lincoln Dance Orchestra, Cameo Dance Orchestra, Dale's Dance Orchestra, Lane's Dance Orchestra, Dixie Daisies and Ernest Carl's Dance Orchestra). He composed music for over 120 films, including Grand Canary and Woman on the Run. Lange shared an Oscar nomination with Hugo Friedhofer for the film The Woman in the Window. He was nominated four times for Oscars but did not win any.
