Born: April 8, 1947 on the West coast of The Netherlands where he grew up in a family with three brothers. At early age and at great displeasure from his father, he stopped attending school. He would rather wander the IJmuiden dock area and the beach where his parents owned a beach house. He could spend hours gathering things, a quality that would unfold later in his life as a central theme while working as both a musician and a visual artist and of which he said : “I re-arrange the things that already are”. He was the guitarist and composer to Dutch bands as the Bintangs, Kraaijveld and Carlsberg. After two solo albums he dedicated his life to painting and sculpturing. He lived in Spain, Andalusia for most part of his life after music. Arti died on may 1st 2018.
