Side 1: 01- VOICES OF SUN CITY Side 2: 01- VOICES OF SUN CITY US promotional vinyl LP, with the same track on both sides. The track clocks at 28:56 and features comments from the perfomers who took part in the Artists United Against Apartheid recording. Comes in a custom stickered die-cut cardboard sleeve. Text on the sticker: SUN CITY ARTISTS UNITED AGAINST APARTHEID THE VOICES OF "SUN CITY": ARTISTS SPEAK OUT ON APARTHEID The Sun City Record Project has compiled this special record to accompany "SUN CITY." We hope radio stations will play these statements, or excerpts from these statements so that your listeners can get a better idea of why so many artists, from every genre of music, are singing out against Apartheid. This record is intended to be used for newscasts, public affairs programs, and as programming aids. When you play the record, why not also play a statement from one of the participating artists? Not all the artists were able to do interviews with us, but many were. We hope you won't just play statements by your favorites or by certain "name" artists. Just as our record tries to break down some music industry 'apartheid' by cutting across all the traditional boundaries of music, we hope you'll consider letting your audience hear from the range of artists speaking out on this record. In addition to artist comments, we have included an excerpt from a South African tourist ad, an excerpt from Little Steven's talk to the New Music Seminar on September 29th, and two comments by prominent South Africans on the SUN CITY record and the real Sun city. We would appreciate your support. You can help out in a major way by advising listeners that they can do something important by sending their own tax exempt donation to the Africa Fund, a charitable trust that will be receiving all artist royalties. The money will benefit political prisoners and their families inside South Africa, educational and cultural needs of South Africans forced into exile, and the educational work of anti-apartheid groups. You can also contact the Africa Fund for the names of Anti-apartheid groups and representatives in your community. A public service announcement in their behalf would be welcome.
