Band,
A.k.a. Craig Black, Guy McIndoe, Blair Wotton
Rain began their life as The Flickering in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Formed in 1991, the original line-up featured Blair Wotton (guitars, samples), Rob Williams (6) (bass, drum-programming), Craig Black (vocals, samples), and Mute, the drum-machine. In late 1992, Williams left The Flickering to join Froit Head and was replaced on bass by Guy McIndoe; whilst another addition was Brent McAlister on guitar. In 1993, McAlister left the group, and the band's name was changed to Rain, due to the fact that "The Flickering" looks like "The Fuckering" when written on a poster in capital letters. Rain played three gigs, with Froit Head, the Dead Flowers and others, and then disbanded in 1994. There were no full-length releases from the band as Rain, but they did re-record the old Flickering track Ash, which in 1998 was posthumously featured on the Shadows From The Steeple compilation.
