Album 2001 on Zoom Club Records label
Rock (Arena Rock, Prog Rock)
Asia's debut album ushered in the age of AOR. Put simply, whilst other acts of the time were big, or even huge, Asia were a phenomenon! This previously unreleased live recording from Pine Knob, Detroit in September 1983 captures the very last show by the classic, original line-up of John Wetton (vocals / bass), Steve Howe (guitar), Geoff Downes (keyboards) adn Carl Palmer (drums) at the completion of the US tour in support of the multi platinum second album 'Alpha'. What it was that made Asia such a fabulous band was the marriage of musical dexterity (let's face it, with a pedigree that took in Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Yes & King Crimson - what would you expect) and memorable melodies. Here was the template... many would follow. NB : "Ride Easy" is not live : it's the studio version. Durations taken from software.
