World, Latin, Classical and Folk
Also known by the name of "Association Coral Lagun Onak", Director: Alberto Balzanelli. Initially founded on January 6, 1939 by a group of Basques living in Argentina, it soon became a mixed choir under the direction of "Father Luis de Mallea", who remained with him until 1967. Without abandoning the polyphony and folklore, from 1943 the "Lagun Onak" approached the symphonic-choral genre, which gave him renown, under the coaching of the masters "Alberto Wolf", "André Vandernoot", "Raymond Leppard", "Pierre Dervaux" and "Henry Gzyz" (in the first South American audition of the Passion according to San Lucas, by Pederecki). Directed by "Karl Richter", they played in memorable successive seasons, the Passions according to St. John and St. Matthew, the Mass in B minor, Christmas Oratorio and numerous Bach Cantatas, Handel's Messiah, Beethoven's Solemn Mass and The Creation of Haydn. In 1988 thye took part to a concert directed by "Alberto Balzanelli" at the Teatro Colón, which included Puccini's Glory Mass and the Sorozabal Basque Suite; the same year they participated in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony directed by "Leopold Hager".
