As part of the first wave of electronic musicians to emerge from post-war Sri Lanka, Asvajit has spent nearly a decade leading dance-floors across the island with his passionate mixing style and playful blend of deeper elements of house and techno music. In 2012, his first vinyl release; “Waran Dub” (In collaboration with Philpot label boss Soulphiction) was released on German imprint Phil_e Records to critical acclaim. More recently, his “Float / Parallel EP” on the Berlin based Frucht Label reveals his continued love affair with the lush, spacey aesthetics of dub music. His productions have been released on record labels world-wide and he has had the opportunity to perform in London and Berlin at clubs such as KOKO, Kater Holzig, Sisyphos, Suicide Circus and the notorious Golden Gate, as well as at music festivals including the 2013 edition of Fusion Festival in Germany and the experimental world culture mashup, Worldtronics Festival (at the iconic Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin). Asvajit is also an audio/visual artist and graphic designer as well as the founder and curator of Jambutek Recordings; an independent electronic music imprint and artist collective based in Colombo. Since 2012 he has curated and co-organized Pettah Interchange, an annual celebration of arts and alternative culture that takes place in abandoned urban spaces.
