German composer, organist and choir leader, born November 6th, 1800 and died August 10th, 1886, both in Berlin. He was a very important member of the music scene of Berlin in the second half of the 19th century. He first became organist at Berlin church of St. Nikolai. Then he learned composition and joined the Sing-Akademie Berlin. In 1853 he became director of the Sing-academy. During his lifetime he was very prolific and after his death in 1886, he left behind numerous composition for choirs, oratoriums, organ music and many more.
