IT

Baritone Soloist and Recitalist Dr. Aurelius Gori, D.M.A. is an acclaimed soloist and recitalist based in Washington, DC whose singing has been hailed as “splendidly lyrical” by the Washington Post. A 1990-91 Fulbright scholar, he studied Lieder and German singing and teaching styles at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich. Under the auspices of the German and Austrian Fulbright Commissions he made solo concert appearances in Berlin and Vienna and became a 1991 semifinalist in the International Belvedere Competition in Vienna. Two years later, he was awarded a scholarship to study Lieder with Ian Partridge at the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies in England. Aurelius completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 1995 at the University of Maryland, where he portrayed the evil Araspe to critical acclaim in the American premiere of Handel’s Tolomeo.
