Hip-Hop/Rap, Spoken Word and Pop
This recording is the soundtrack of our cabaret act "Aux âmes, etc." The stand-out feature of this project is that in a single poetic spirit it brings together younger and older artists whose media for expression are as varied as rap,hip-hop, urban poetry, the written word, pop music and so on. The common denominator is the swing and groove of the lyrics. Listening to this CD is like being at a show: it's a journey, an invitation to let yourself be carried along in a flow of words as they are spoken, read, sung or shouted, in French or in English, where poetry takes precedence over protest without obscuring the political power of the text: "Poètes, vos papiers!" "Poets, your papers!" as Léo Ferré once proclaimed. All these texts and songs are original works, and address a variety of themes: the unfamiliar, the chaos of the world, sex, religion, exploitation, the duplicity of words…The show features 10 musicians, singers, authors, storytellers, speakers and spinners of spoonerisms. Musicians : Adrien Sezuba Rukira : Voice / Clément Delchambre : Saxophone, Clarinet / Olivier Kelchtermans : Saxophone / Michel Debrulle : Drums / Thierry Devillers : Piano, Voice / Benoist Eil : Guitar / Lara Persain : Voice, Lecture / L'Ami Terrien : Voice, Urban poetry / Christine Aventin : Writing / Véronique Laurent : Tuba
