From a profile posted by Diamond Media 360: Avatar the Articulate a/k/a Avie Fresh, made a lasting impression in 1999, with the Oracle EP, a project that brought him instant recognition and would later be heavily bootlegged throughout Russia and much of South East Asia. Avie was also known for being featured on the Lost Episodes Vol. 1 & 2 compilation series, which was released through Kingz Link Recordsz, a project that show cased the burgeoning talent in the NYC's underground era of the late 90s. The project is comprised of unreleased material from the likes of Mr. Voodoo, L-Swift, A-Butta, House of Repz, Oktober Zero, Punchline, Wordsworth, Ace Lover, Sir Menelik, God Father Don and of course Avatar, among others. By 2000, the solo artist joined forces with Kevlar, Animosity and super producer Apex ("I Get Money," 50 Cent), for the formation of The Black Casba, a group signed to HollaBack Records. The group would soon after disband, where both Avatar and his childhood friend Fabolous were sued by the label, for two different reasons. Avie shrugged off this suit, which was later dismissed and so he continued to hone his craft. With the business side of the industry leaving a bad taste in his mouth, Avatar decided to step aside and just continue to make music for himself, close friends and family. With a renewed sense of focus and independence, Avie would go onto work with several producers and DJs such as Percee P, Talib Kweli, Bekay, Mighty Mi & DJ Shock, among others. During this sabbatical, Avie produced four albums that have yet to see the light of day, with the exception of the 2011 released full length, Skillanthropy, which is available for download via Bandcamp. Eventually, Avatar plans to release his remaining projects. Stay tuned for more music from Avatar and keep an eye out for the forthcoming free album, It Was Bitten.
