Dutch-Antillean dancehall/reggae artist, born in Willemstad, Curaçao (in the former Netherlands Antilles). A member of Punky Donch, performing with lyrics in Papiamentu and Dutch. Born in Curaçao, Awaras has been making music since the age of 6. He scored his first hit in elementary school in Curaçao with ‘Ami ku mi peiki’ (‘Me and my girlfriend’ in Papiamentu), before relocating to Amsterdam, North Holland, in the Netherlands at age 15. Performing alongside hip-hop group 'Trapmindz' at festivals like Uitmarkt and the Popkomm. In 2008, Awaras formed the group Punky Donch together with the other seven members of the band releasing their debut album "Gangsta Reggae" which featured songs like ‘Sensimilla’ and ‘Mi Kier Bo Awe’ (I want you tonight) which charted on radio stations in Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles. This lead to many performances by the group, including shows at the the Rototom Sunsplash in Italy and the Amsterdam Reggae Festival. Awaras has since pursued a successful solo career parallel to his group ventures with Punky Donch, with the release of his debut solo album "Youths of the Earth".
