Azzedine Alaïa (26 February 1940 – 18 November 2017) was a Tunisian-born couturier and shoe designer. Alaïa moved to Paris in 1957 where he started to work at Christian Dior as a tailleur then opened his first atelier in the late 1970s. His creations have been worn by Grace Jones (notably in the James Bond feature A View To A Kill), Tina Turner, Janet Jackson, Madonna or Rihanna.
