Brenda D 'Time Away' SFR002 Time Away (Original Mix) The roots of Chicago's underground dance music scene runs deep, and this is the foundation from which Brian Gardner and Todd Mariana are inspired by and have built upon as DJ's and producers. Never content to simply copy what has been done before in the past, BTMG have taken a more retro-forward approach to production with their current release. Time Away features traditional four to the floor beat patterns, which are simple, yet effective. Catchy vocals provided by Brenda D to add to the tension created by the synth stabs and a sick, squelchy bassline which also adds a hypnotic effect and is gently contrasted by serene, atmospheric strings. Time Away has all the core elements of what classic House music is known for, but still manages to dodge being pigeonholed. Time Away (DOTS Dreamix). The Dust On The Stylus (Dreamix) has an unmistakably retro feel, without sounding dated. DOTS is known to be a big fan of the New Wave, Synth Pop and Shoegaze genres and those influences are apparent when listening to his productions and remixes. This will have you reminiscing about the days when Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails were MTV mainstays and when bands which were signed to labels like 4AD and Creation Records got swept up in the whole UK Acid House scene.
