Badala Foly was born in 2005, around the drummer and guitarist singer, Abubakar Kouyaté . DJOLIBA from the village along the Niger River , south of Bamako, MALI , Abubakar Kouyate was born into a family of griots . His father, Adama Kouyate is one of the leading musicians of the famous " rail band " alongside Salif Keita. This album is a tribute to the traditions of Mali , family and Malian music . Together they create a hybrid music, mixing traditional instruments such as kamalen'goni , the balafon, the tamani , the Fulani flute, calabash or djembe, and Western instruments such as drums, bass and electric guitar. The Badala FOLY Group consists of six musicians from the four corners of the far north (Lille and Paris ), all sensitive Mandingo and Culture gathered around Aboubacar KOUYATE Simon Demouveaux (guitarist) , Yann Lebreton ( kamalen'goni ) and Benjamin Moroy ( balafon ) have all been trained in Mali by great traditional masters.
