A.k.a. Nick Vidal, Eric Vidal S.P. 1200
Straight out of Bakersfield, California; The Baka Boyz have become an enormous part of the Hip Hop world. Brothers Eric and Nick Vidal began their radio career after meeting Dave Morales (then on Power 106) in 1993, getting them a spot on Los Angeles' most prestigious radio station of the time. As Power 106 was a pure house music station, the Baka Boyz began to influence hip hop on the radio waves on one of the first hip hop mixshows of all time "The Friday Nite Flavaz". They were responisble for bringing out acts to mainstream success such as Eminem, and even both were DJs for the late Notorious B.I.G. During their reign at Power, they also brought DJs to fame such as Richard "Humpty" Vission, DJ E-Man, and even Big Boy (currently has a show on Power 106.) The Baka Boyz also produced hip hop hits and also contributed to the L.A. house scene as S.P. 1200 and even produced El Presidente's "Cafe Con Leche." A backlash by the media after the murders of 2Pac and the Notorious B.I.G. in 1997, Power 106 switched to R&B, ending the reign of the beloved Baka Boyz. After acting as talents scouts for several years, they have returned to radio with their weekly syndicated show "The Hip Hop Master Mix" which airs to over 100 stations nationwide including Canada and Mexico.
