Balázs Nemes, classical trumpet player, trumpet soloist and trumpet pedagogue Balázs Nemes was born in 1976 in Budapest. He began playing the trumpet at age eleven, studying with Éva Nagyiván. In 1991, he entered the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest. Two years later, he was admitted to the Paris Conservatoire, where he studied with Guy Touvron. He completed his training at The Juilliard School in New York under Mark Gould and Raymond Mase. From the age of seventeen, Mr. Nemes has appeared regularly as a soloist in Germany’s largest concert halls – Gasteig Munich, Philharmonie Berlin, Philharmonie Cologne, Alte Oper Frankfurt – accompanied by various European chamber orchestras such as the C.P.E. Bach Chamber Orchestra under Peter Schreier, the Budapest Strings, and the Mitteldeutsches Kammerorchester. In 1998, he was invited to perform Bach’s Second Brandenburg Concerto with the Philharmonia Virtuosi in New York. He has made several recordings for Hungarian Television, and recorded a compact disc for Deutsche Schallplatten Berlin, accompanied by the Thüringisches Kammerorchester under Max Pommer.In 2006 Balázs Nemes performed Bernd Alois Zimmermann`s “Nobody Knows de Trouble I see” with the Sinfonieorchester Aachen. Prior to assuming his current position of solo trumpeter in the Radio-Sinfonie-Orchester Frankfurt, Mr. Nemes had played in the same capacity with the Sinfonieorchester Basel. In 2002, he performed as soloist in André Jolivet’s concerto no. 2 for trumpet and orchestra with the Radio-Sinfonie-Orchester Frankfurt. In the last two years he has also played in the Metropolitan Opera under James Levine and Valery Gergiev, and in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim and Mariss Janssons.
