Farewell Ferengistan - Farewell Ferengistan - 2006 Is Ferengistan a real place? Do we live there? This album, and track, considers our modern westernised world in the early 21st century. B2 - Igizeh - 2000 Named after a dream in which I was discussing J.S. Bach’s 2nd symphony (he didn’t write symphonies). I’m not at all sure this is what it sounded like. Last Train To Lhasa (Live At Glastonbury) - Live At Glastonbury - 1996 Recorded live at Glastonbury Festival in 1995; a fantastic gig caught on tape by pure chance. Sheesha - Maya - 1994 One of the earlier Banco tunes, originally on the 1993 Beyond Records compilation Ambient Dub Volume 3 (Aqua). Inspired by Bach (again), JFK and a bit of William Burroughs. And a helicopter. Tempra - Memories Dreams Reflections - 2009 Another very early tune, originally written in 1990. Vocals on this version by more recent collaborator Maya Preece. Glove Puppet (Dreadzone Remix) - 10 Years (Remixed) - 2003 First recorded as an instrumental on The Magical Sounds Of Banco De Gaia then with vocals by Jennifer Folker on Igizeh. This remix of that version captures its essence beautifully. Not In My Name - You Are Here - 2004 As the title might suggest, this track was inspired by the invasion of Iraq in 2003. The album as a whole was driven by the political and moral upheavals of the period. Big Men Cry - Big Men Cry - 1997 It’s not that long ago but it still wasn’t too cool for men to cry in public back then. Also inspired by The Cure mentioning Banco in a song. Those are Beluga whales at the beginning. Amber - Last Train To Lhasa - 1995 A totally irrelevant title but a long-standing favourite. Bet you can’t guess what language the vocals are in. Touching The Void (Smells Like Salvation) - Orig. The Magical Sounds Of Banco De Gaia - 1999 A rare remix of a track not particularly about falling down mountains. If you know the book/film of the same name then the remix title might make sense. Made in The UK
