Dame Barbara Cartland, DBE, CStJ (b.July 9, 1901, Edgbaston, Birmingham, England – d.May 21, 2000, Camfield Place near Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England) was an English author of romance novels, who was one of the best-selling authors as well as one of the most prolific and commercially successful of the twentieth century. She also wrote under her married name of Barbara McCorquodale.
