Rock
To avoid legal controversies between German alternative/punk rockers The Bates and their Austrian namesake in more or less the same genre, The Bates (2) regarding their identical band names the latter decided to release under an alias and chose the obviously ironic 'Bates Unlimited'. Being the most popular live act in Wiener Neustadt in the early 90s they released 3 albums until they disbanded in August 1994. Thomas Guth went on to become A&R for BMG Ariola Austria GmbH, Hannes Eder co-founded Radio FM4, Bernd Bechtloff and Dieter Nemetz formed Seven Ages, Rainer Cvillink moved to California.
