Bauchklang (literally "belly sound") is a beatboxing group from Austria, formed in 1995. With a mixture of human beatboxing, mouthpercussions and vocal sounds, they are covering a musical landscape stretching from Electro over Minimal, to Dub and Hip Hop, using only their voices on the way. Bauchklang released their debut album "Jamzero" in 2001. The album became popular in Austria, earning the group two Amadeus Awards for "Best Album" and the "FM4 Award" in 2002. In 2001, after their performance in "Transmusicales de Rennes International Festival" in Rennes, France, the group was invited in numerous festivals throughout Europe and, in 2002, they embarked their first tour in Canada, which also included a performance at the Montreal Jazz Festival. After four years of extensive touring, Bauchklang released their second album "Many People" in 2005 and toured Europe and Canada. In 2009, Bauchklang had a five-city-club-tour through India, which led to the release of their first live CD/DVD album "Live In Mumbai". They earned India's Indiecision Award for "Best International Live Act" the same year and. In 2010, they released their third album "Signs", which featured guest appearances by American spoken word artist Ursula Rucker, French MC Rouda and French beatboxer TEZ. The album earned them another two Austrian Amadeus Awards for "Best Live Act" and "Best Alternative". The same year, they were Austrias' musical ambassadors at the Shanghai Expo. In July 2012, the group founded their own label, "Bauchklang Records", and released their EP "Ray" at the end of September. In July 2013 it was officially confirmed that Alexander Böck would leave the band at the end of the year and Bauchklang would take a break. The temporary farewell conference took place in St. Pölten in December 2013. After a two-and-a-half-year break, Bauchklang again appeared in June 2016 on the Wiener Donauinselfest.
