n 1996? I was invited down to London by the Shinkansen collective to take part in a week long session of debates around, well, I'm not too sure. The premise was to create an environment for artists from the UK and Germany to meet up and discuss their work, creative methods etc. Basically I was sat in a circle with various other electronic 'music' artists, including Mixmaster Morris, Uwe Schmidt (Atom Heart) , Markus Popp and Sebastian Oschatz (Oval), Mark Royal (T-Power) and various others that evade my recollection. It was frustrating but also fairly fun. Hung around getting stoned with Morris and Mark while the Germans looked on disapprovingly. My apologies to the Germans. The following recording was made at a night organised by the same people a year or so later. Recorded live at Club Oval, October 25th 1997. Club Oval was a night put on by the Shinkansen arts collective who had organised the Soundworks Exchange meetup for artists from the UK and Germany. My job was to play live music for 6 hours with dat inserts from a selection of other artists. I only had one two hour dat tape with me and these are the bits I recorded. The last track has a bit of digital dropout throughout but I totally meant it.
