Band,
Musician of Classical
Beltaine is a Celtic Fusion band from Portland, Oregon that features hammered dulcimer, guitar, flute, marimbula, accordion, and drums. Performing both instrumental and vocal tunes, Beltaine offers a unique blend of instrumentation and musical styles. The original and traditional music performed by Beltaine is inspired from Celtic, folk, rock, classical, jazz, and blues sources. The Meaning of Beltaine Beltaine is the Celtic festival held on the first day of May that celebrates the beginning of summer. It is one of two significant events during the year, the other being Samhain on November 1st which marks the start of winter. At both Beltaine and Samhain the veil between the human and supernatural world is at its thinnest. During both of these times it is said that witches and fairies roamed freely. The literal translation of Beltaine is "brilliant fire". It reflects the bright, energetic sounds of the hammered dulcimer as well as the other instruments in the group.
