Benjamin Hallatt is a sonic arts and print/design maker whose work derives from sub-cultural aesthetics and communal practices. Through defunct and/or limiting technologies Ben explores immediacy of experience, spaces and environments, object form, self reflection and psychological impressions. In both the sonic and visual work composition and presentation are fragmentary, tentative and documentary. Details and surfaces are explored and combined according to their own shape and aesthetic logic, manifesting themselves according to subjective questions of refinement, patience and spatial timing. To date Ben's work has found form in an extensive catalogue of commercially available recordings, publications and live performances, working with a number of record labels and arts spaces as well as his own recordings imprint KIKS/GFR. Further to this he has worked with a number of notable global artists in organising sound events, recordings and print publications.
