The Berliner Streichquartett was founded 1977 in Berlin. The Stringquartet (violin 1st, violin 2nd, viola, violoncello) grew out of the 3 members of the Suske-Quartett after the first violinist Karl Suske moved back to the Gewandhaus-Quartett Leipzig. The new Primarius became Wolf-Dieter Batzdorf. Attention: Japanese releases often use the name Berlin String Quartet for Suske Quartet. Please pay attention to the member Karl Suske and then add the release under Suske-Quartett.
