Album UK 2002 on Navras label
World (Indian Classical, Hindustani)
Pandit Bhimsen Joshi is now universally and justly recognized as the foremost living exponent of the Kirana Gharana [February 4, 1922 – January 24, 2011] . Panditji's long and successful career has been crowned, at home, with such prestigious honors as the Padma Shri and Padma Vibhusan titles and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, and has seen him achieve wide recognition abroad. It is during one his many international tours that he gave the recital presented on this album. The mastery of the performance speaks for itself and would do sowhatever the age of the artiste, but for a man then in his 76th year, it is nothing but short of astonishing. Recorded live in concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, 1997.
