Band, 1984-1990 FI
Rock and Pop
80's indie rock band from Helsinki, Finland, influenced by Bowie, the Smiths and the Talking Heads. Bibi Hanuk was founded in 1984 by Marko von Konow (gtr, voc), his sister Milla von Konow (bass, voc) and their architecture student friends Timo Vikkula (lead guitar) and Jarmo "Elukka" Eskelinen (drums, percussion) . The origins of the band were in "the Walking Deads" project band, which covered - obviously - Talking Heads. The band had also another side project, Pete & the Shelleyettes, covering Buzzcocks. Bibi Hanuk played regularly in the Helsinki club scene until they disbanded in 1990. The original line-up published one EP (“Camping”) after winning the recording opportunity in the Radio City Helsinki demo contest. The second three-song EP, recorded with guitarist Tommi Pietiläinen, was never officially published.
