John Faster was born in Queens, New York. At a young age his family relocated to the Bronx where he was raised. Inspired by his father (John V. Faster) to make music on his own, "Lefty" was influenced by artists like KRS-One, Chuck D, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Biggie Smalls, Mos Def, and Big L. He is currently lives and works in San Diego, California.
