Bill McGee is a musician (trumpet), producer, arranger, and songwriter He started his career in Atlanta in the early 70's as the original trumpet player with the band Hellaphenalia. They signed with the Ray Charles owned Tangerine Records and had a single "Ain't Nothing Super Star About Me." Bill was the youngest (17) member of the group. When the group reorganized, he moved to Virginia, the group Hellaphenalia reformed as BRICK. A call came a year later for Bill to return and join the new group BRICK but he opted to stay in Virginia where he had co-founded TRUSSEL who had the disco hit "Love Injection" on Elektra Records. For a time Bill McGee left the music industry to teach music in Petersburg, VA - Richmond, VA - Elizabeth City, NC and Atlanta, GA, where he was the Director of Bands at Morehouse College. While teaching in Richmond he mentored a very young D'Angelo, and Mad Skillz, Danja Mowf, Lonnie B, and Jo DoJa, The SupaFriendz. He can be seen as the bouncer in Mad Skillz 2nd video "Move Yo Body", on Atlantic Records. He was the Executive Producer on the "Are you that somebody" unauthorized remix featuring the SupaFriendz with Aaliyah. He's also worked with or recorded with The Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, The West Street Mob, The Positive Force, Funky Four plus One, Trecherous Three, Doug Wimbush, Keith Leblanc, Skip McDonald, Chops, The O'Jays, Pattie Labelle, Stylistics, Shawn Chappelle, James Saxsmo Gates, Klymaxx, Joyce Fenderella Irby. in 1982, Bill was awarded two Gold Records for his work with Sugarhill Records. After a stint teaching music Bill McGee became a successful Smooth Jazz solo artist. Between 2000 and 2006 he had three CD's on the market as a solo jazz artist. And is still active producing records for 804 Jazz.
