Single UK 2006 on BBm label
Electronic and Spoken Word (Comedy, Synth-pop)
This is one of many examples of UK comedian-musician Bill Bailey rendering a traditional or well-known song in the style of a particular artist, band or genre, sometimes with foreign lyrics. In this instance he performs 'The Hokey Cokey' (also known as 'The Hokey Pokey' in the US) in the style of Kraftwerk, complete with German lyrics (printed on the artwork). A live performance of the song was included in the routine for his 'Part Troll' tour (available on DVD) where he is joined on stage by Kevin Eldon, John Moloney and Martin Trenaman to form a four-piece band to complete the Kraftwerk parody. The artwork of this single is based on that from Kraftwerk's 1978 LP 'The Man-Machine'. Recorded and remixed at The Way Studios in Hackney, Metropolis in Chiswick and The Bunker of Dreams. Mastered at The Townhouse. Thanks to Steve and Luke at The Way, Chris and Chad, Tim Burrell at Townhouse, Pat at PBJ and Gillian at BBm. Design + artwork with thanks to Karl Klefisch and Eli Lissitzky. Special thanks to Kris as always. Das Hokey Kokey - Für Dax. Printed on recycled paper © 2006 BBm Ltd ℗ 2006 BBm Ltd
