Black Light Smoke is Emmy Award winning composer/producer/musician Jordan Lieb. His sound is raw, personal, analog and melodic. He draws on house, electro, new wave, italo-disco and post-punk, often infusing his own unique vocals. He's performed his original live set at Fabric in London, the massive online platform of Boiler Room, at Robot Heart, the BPM festival in Mexico, and in many other cities across North America. Debuting in 2010 on Brooklyn's Scissor & Thread, Black Light Smoke lit up the scene with his infections single "Lovework" being charted by the likes of Andrew Weatherall and Appleblim, and spurred on by a remix from DJ T. 2013 saw the release of his "Rough Cuts" EP from which both the title track and "That's My Yes" found much favor on dance floors. In 2014 his "Firefly" EP took a turn in sound into the world of retro synths and electro, and spawned his first music video. 2014 was also the year Jordan launched his own podcast series Death Decay Magic. This eclectic platform showcases mixes from a wide range of DJs, and is home to Jordan's own mixes, edits, and original music. In 2017 Black Light Smoke's "Firefly" and "Screws In My Head" were featured in the hit cult film "The Bad Batch" by Ana Lily Amirpour. 2017 and 2018 brings a comeback wave of releases from BLS on such labels as Hafendisko, NEIN records and Cut Mistake Music.
