Band, IE
Alternative
Formed in the early ’90s. The initial line-up was Roger (vocals), Miffy (guitar), Andrew Lewis aka Stinko (bass) and Acky (drums). They played gigs supporting Violent Storm, No Remorse, Squadron, Skullhead and Irish band Celtic Dawn. Following the deaths of three members of Violent Storm in 1992, Lewis and Miffy along with Nigel Bartlett aka Billy and Clarkey (both from Violent Storm) formed Celtic Warrior. Blackout reformed in early ’98, with the line-up Lewis (vocals and bass), David Braddon aka Brad (guitar) and Jason Freeman (drums). This line-up recorded two tracks for the Voice of Britain volume 1 album. Following the death of Lewis Blackout were once more put on hold. In 2005 Braddon and Freeman reformed Blackout once again. The line-up was Braddon (vocals), Andrew Heggie aka Eggy (lead guitar), Martin Collins aka Mart (rhythm guitar) Steve Deverell (bass) and Freeman (drums). Just ahead of the release of the band’s second album For the Blood of our Land Collins left the band. His replacement was Andrew Turner. Acky had previously played drums in Celtic Warrior and was also the bassist in R.A.C. band Avalon. Heggie had previously played guitar in Merthyr Tydfil punk band Foreign Legion and Deverell had previously played bass in short-lived R.A.C. band Battle Standard. Both Freeman and Heggie have done some studio work for Brutal Attack.
