Dutch version of this graphic novel in which the songs (story's) are all published as comics by Erik Kriek. Erik sings the songs with the Blue Grass Boogiemen. Includes an essay by music journalist and USA expert Jan Donkers about the musical traditions of the murder ballad in American music. The songs on the CD and book are in different order from each other. And 'In the Pines' can be seen as a bonus as it is not as a separate story in the book, it is the book itself. Book index: 1) Pretty Polly en de scheepstimmerman. 2) De Lange Zwarte Sluier. 3) Taneytown. 4) Caleb Meyer. 5) Waar de Wilde Rozen Groeien. The hard cover book was first printed in January 2016, published on February 17, 2016.
