Jazz
South-african jazz combo founded in the early 1960s in Cape Town. As an interracial band in a country where apartheid ruled, they faced a lot of difficulties to play their music, so after an appearance at the 1964 Antibes Jazz Festival in France, the group decided to stay in Europe and the musicians eventually moved to London. Their activity as Blue Notes was then sporadic, they were eventually integrated into the jazz scene of London and played with, and formed several other bands with local musicians, notably Chris McGregor's Brotherhood Of Breath.
