Founder of Arcola Records, West uses his label to release field recordings he made of blues and jazz musicians during the late 1960s, including Bukka White, Furry Lewis, Babe Stovall, and others. He also played dixieland jazz on trumpet and trombone in his youth and later turned to guitar and piano to play coustic blues. b. March 27, 1942 in Seattle, WA d. July 31, 2016
