Seger formed Bob Seger And The Last Heard to release East Side Story, a song he previously wrote and gave to another Detroit-area band, The Underdogs (3). "The Last Heard" soon became the name of Seger's permanent band, which consisted of Pep Perrine on drums, Carl Lagassa on guitar, and Dan Honaker on bass.
