Pop
Pianist Bobby Gosh got his start when his quickly developed talents scored him a touring gig with singer Kitty Kallen at the age of 16. Moving from Reading, PA, to New York City, he studied at Juilliard and performed in nightclubs until meeting lyricist Sammy Cahn at a gig one night. The two hit it off and began writing songs together, which led to a meeting with Paul Anka. The two instantly became friends, leading to Gosh's hiring as Anka's pianist and co-writer. The two toured throughout the world, eventually writing "My Way" together before presenting it to Frank Sinatra. Gosh signed a recording contract with Polydor and recorded two solo albums before moving on to several different labels as a songwriter and musician. He also managed to perform with Billy Joel and Barbra Streisand and land songs in the movies Big and Mighty Aphrodite. He even wrote "Welcome to Our World of Toys," which is played in every FAO Schwarz store in America. He still occasionally records albums and runs a recording studio that has housed Björk among others. ALLMUSIC
