Boris Divider

*1975 ES
Composer / Producer of Electronic and Dance
A.k.a. Boris Saez Cage (2) Max Hawking Micro Controlled Corp. Psiloc Shadow Runner Unknown Driver

Electronic music producer, sound designer and visual composer from Madrid, Spain. Founder of the labels Drivecom, Tesla Electronics, Subnet and Artificial Domain. Born in 1975, his work is focused into the sequential and minimalist progressive electronic audio and visual stuff as one of the main backgrounds and as an essential concept to understand Boris Divider’s career. His beginnings, as electro producer, developed a dark-minimal Electro style as a consequence of the man-machine atmosphere, the vision of an automated society and a world controlled by machines. His influences come on the one hand from the first EBM waves and the dark electronic scene and on the other hand from the old school electro and hiphop movement that appeared on the streets of his city in the early nineties, of course influences from the Electro founders Kraftwerk, or refreshing Anthony Rother’s earlier work as well as concrete sci-fi films and books like "Blade Runner" or "Ghost in the Shell" helped him to reflect his vision. It was in 1992 when he started to make music with computers, sequencers and synths creating a several electronic projects. But finally Electro catched his attention at the end of nineties. In late 2001 he joined the hi-top Anthony Rother’s label, officially presented as a PSI49NET artist in early 2002 through the "Electro Commando 1 Welcome To PsiCity" compilation. 2003 was the year when he brought to the light his main project called DRIVECOM to give Electro the impulse it deserves and keep the essence of the dark and minimal taste that aimed him to start. The label was getting a very good response around the electro community and it became as one of the most important reference of Electro and maybe the most representative electro label from Spain. Its discography includes classic tracks like “People Love Machines” (2003), “Shut Down The System” (2005), or the amazing “La Hora De Las Máquinas” (2006) album. Divider’s works appears not only on his label. You can find more tracks on Satamile Monotone USA, MSX, Semantica... imprints with an always anticipated vibe and his releases have got an international respect over the years. They have been charted and supported by the most important electro and techno djs around the world: Dave Clarke, Hardfloor, The Advent, Adam X, Exzakt, Umwelt... As a musician, one of the strongest points was his powerfull hardware live act, no laptop involved, just man and machines experience. Performing sequencer, synths, keyboards and vocals/vocoders in realtime, making each show different since each track is developed on the air for the audience. More than a decade after developing electronic music for clubbing and dancefloor environments, and have been one of the most important artists talking about electro scene, his music was played around the world in countries such as US, UK, Germany, Finland, Netherlands, ... playing in events such as Sonar Festival (Bcn), ADE (Amsterdam) or clubs like Tresor (Berlin). Since last years things has been changed into a new path where visual stuff gets an important role and where audio and video are being synced together in a constant synergy sharing the message on both fields. He created in 2014 a new label called Artificial Domain as a platform where releasing electronic and experimental music from his own and other artists connected with avant-garde sonic styles but also a platform where creating and performing audiovisual works. This new trajectory leads him to play audiovisual performances at LCE (La Casa Ecendida) or MEH (Museo de la Evolución Humana, Burgos) in 2014, the new Volumens Festival and consolidated MiRA Festival in 2015, or at Planetarium MCCLM of the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art (Cuenca, Spain) for its 50th Anniversary in 2016.
