Band, US
Bottoms Up and the Chasers were an American band active in the San Francisco Bay Area of California in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The members met at Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto. Adams and Riggs started the band in early 1988, along with drummer Kamp. Bottoms joined soon after, and Flynn replaced Kamp later in 1988. Their music could be described as an eclectic blend of Rock, Soul, Funk and Blues. Influenced by classic artists from the aforementioned genres, as well as contemporary alternative artists from that time like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, Living Colour, and Fishbone. They started playing house parties in Palo Alto and Stanford, eventually landing a weekly gig at Pena Moai in East Palo Alto during the summer of 1990. They also played shows in San Francisco, Davis, and Santa Cruz in 1990-1991. In August 1989, they recorded a demo with Bart Thurber at the original House of Faith in Palo Alto, and the results were self-released on a cassette titled 'Get The Most For Your Soul'. A second demo was recorded with Thurber in the Summer of 1990 and Winter 1991, but was never finished or properly mixed, and the multi-track master tape was later lost or stolen. Only rough cassette mixes exist of that material today. The band split up in May 1991, when Bottoms and Flynn moved to New York City to join Brothers By Choice.
