This was a fake rap group concept bought and paid for by Bubba the Love Sponge Clem (born Todd Alan Clem, April 23, 1966). Their first album which is self titled, was based solely on beats (which were already produced by DJ Magic Mike) where Clem simply made a deal to buy portions of these beats to be used as bed tracks for some lyrics they made up in a matter of moments. The main vehicle of this album was to drive young people, teenagers to one of Clem's own nightclubs, called "Sponges". It was purely a fabrication to get people in the door of one of his nightclubs. By the time of their 2nd and last album they could no longer afford any production by DJ Magic Mike so it is a self produced affair. From Wikipedia: Clem became involved in various business ventures. In December 1994, he invested $50,000 to open Sponges, an alcohol free nightclub for teenagers in Largo, Florida. He opened a second Sponges in Spring Hill in 1995. There, he performed with his rap band Boyz Wit Da Bass.
