Brendan Keeley - A Song for Ireland ~ We Will Be Strong In my travels all over the country as a singer / songwriter, I have become acutely aware of the real life on the ground situation here in Ireland. I hear and see nothing but doom and gloom from a nation of people who have been devastated by the state the country is now in. It also struck me that nobody is saying that some day this will be fine! Or at the very least instilling “Hope” into our people. I believe that our people need to be lifted and encouraged to be strong in order to persevere through these depressing times, as we are forced to live with the stark reality that our young people are leaving at the rate of 1000 per week! The amazing achievements of Katie Taylor and Mark Rowan at the London Olympics with the way they lifted the spirit of the nation, plus the obvious need of the Irish people, have inspired me to try to encourage people’s spirit, in the form of what I do best. I have composed an anthem of hope, entitled “We will be Strong”. On January 27th, 2013 at 3pm in O' Connor Park, Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland, I aim to bring together, here in the heart of Ireland, as many people as possible of all ages to participate in the recording of this song! Through its strong lyrical content, and rousing melody, I want to try to instil hope, strength and awareness, that though we may be down, we are certainly not out, and that our centuries old spirit of survival is indeed alive and well! ~ Brendan Keeley This record was presented to US President, Barack Obama at his second in-auguration.
