Pop and Folk
Brian had, in 1971, formed the Black Country`s favourite folk group "Giggetty". For the uninitiated the "Black Country" is a discrete area of the West Midlands in the UK including those towns and villages situated on a 30 foot coal seam and is in many ways the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. The group who produced 4 L.P.s; 6 cassette recordings, featured in some 80 T.V. appearances between 1976 and 1997 and hosted their own weekly local radio show for a period of 2 years, up until ill health forced an end to live appearances. Seeking a way to exercise the creative `little grey cells` Brian started to write for the amateur theatre market focussing predictably upon plays with music thus allowing him to retain the focus of his first artistic love. With a friend Steve Andrews the first music biop," The Middle of Nowhere- the story of Dusty Springfield" was produced. The play won several festival awards and toured the Midlands twice. The success of this moved Brian closer towards involvement in the professional sector of theatre.
