A.k.a. Brian N Walker
Brian Walker is a sound designer / recording and mastering engineer who currently resides in California's north bay area. He works simultaneously in the multimedia and music fields, designing, recording, mixing and mastering sound effects, music and dialog for audio CD's and CD ROM titles. He started his career as an audio engineer in 1980, recording bands and mixing live concerts with a wide variety of artists playing rock, jazz, blues, reggae, folk, Cajun & Zydeco, bluegrass, new age, and what was then referred to as "world music". In 1986 he met Darol Anger and Mike Marshall, and began a six-year period of touring the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia as a live mixer / tour manager with such groups as Montreux, Turtle Island String Quartet, Andy Narrell, Pierre Bensusan, Keith Terry & Crosspulse, Tuck & Patti, Michael Hedges, and others. In 1992, Brian became interested in the capabilities of digital audio, purchased his first Sonic Solutions workstation, and began editing and mastering music for audio CD's, while continuing to tour with various musical groups. In 1994, his old friend, Matthew Fassberg, asked him to come and work at what was then a new, multimedia company called Rocket Science Games. The company's motto: "where Hollywood meets Silicon Valley" best describes their intentions. It was there that Brian began designing audio for multimedia, at a time when the industry was very young, and digital audio tools were few, and far between. During this time, Brian also began a long partnership with Bud Spangler, Bay Area music producer extraordinare, on "See's Sunday Night", a weekly radio show that showcases live music. In addition to recording and producing concerts for the radio show they record and broadcast the Monterey Jazz, and the Monterey Blues festivals, as well as recordings for National Public Radio and several major record labels. They recently launched the "In Performance.com" web site that also showcases live music using streaming media technology. In 1995, Brian moved to Broderbund Software where he continued to create audio for multimedia, as well as conversions of existing CD ROM titles into foreign-language versions, an arduous and difficult task, not unlike that of an archeologist; re-constructing lost civilizations. It was here that Brian met a very talented audio production staff with whom he continues to work on a regular basis as an independent contractor. In 1997, Brian started Articulate Audio, as a means to continue his work with both music recording and audio for multimedia. He works in his own studio, or at other facilities as the project requires, and spends a great deal of time on location, recording music at various venues around the San Francisco bay area.
