Band, 1983-2013 US
Rock
A.k.a. Matrix (51)
The band, founded by brothers Dale and Troy Thompson from the US, was initially called Matrix. They released 4 independent cassettes. When they got a record contract with Pure Metal in 1986 they changed their name to Bride. Three albums and a compilation were released on Pure Metal, before they moved on to Star Song Records and released three albums with them. One of these, Snakes In The Playground (1992), is generally considered to be the quintessential Bride record. They released an album with Rugged Records (1995), two with Organic Records (1997-1998), one with Absolute Records (2001), and they found their final home with Retroactive Records, where they released four albums. Bride has released many independent, limited edition projects which include live recordings, demo projects and reissues, both in audio and video format. Initially these were sold without any retail distribution directly to their fans, later on they got access to M8 Records distribution channels. Bride released their final studio album in 2013 (Incorruptible), and officially called it quits when Dale Thompson moved to New Zealand. They came out of retirement in 2018 to release another final studio album (Snake Eyes).
