Buffalo Souljah a/k/a Bigg Buff is a Dancehall/Reggae artist from Zimbabwe. Born September 16th, 1980 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Thabani a.k.a Bigg Buff or Buffalo Souljah moved to Harare at an early age and grew up in Mufakose, a ghetto of Harare. He started writing music at a young age, composing his first song at the age of eight called called “Zuva Randisingakanganwe” which means “The day I will never forget” -- a song which was inspired by baboons that chased him and his late brother after they had provoked them. The son of the late great Zimbabwean saxophonist Unity Ndlovu (who played alongside Thomas Mapfumo in the 70's and early 80's), Thabani drew a lot of inspiration from his father, and began concentrating on his music after his passing in 1992. Starting his first group " Intelligent Racuss Cruuks" in 1996, the group included David Zulu aka Deva Soul, Stewart Chamirai aka Jon Doe and himself, formerly known as ULD a/k/a Prettybway. Together they released three afro hip-hop albums, a mix of traditioinal music called jiti and hip-hop which involved a hip-hop drum and bass sequence incorporated with the Zimbabwean instrument Mbira. Relocating to Johannesburg, South Africa in 1999, he started working with several SA artists, eventually teaming up with Ghanaian artists Kweku and Turas and Papszido from Soweto to form Da Appostles, releasing an album titled "The Chosen Ones". Bigg Buff also recorded an Afro Jazz album called "Indlovu Yangena" on Good Times Records, working closely with Mzilikazi Wa Afrika. In 2008 he released a hit dancehall single "Bubble Ya Bums" for his debut album, the video has been on rotation on Channel O and MTV Base, winning two Channel O Spirit Of Africa Awards in the categories "Best Newcomer" and "Best Dancehall/Ragga". Signed to DJ Waxxy's Hottwaxx Records, as a member of the Crack Boys, his music gets licensed to the Crack Boys Entertainment label as well.
